Lead with the business or lead with the product. What's best?

I used to be 100% focused on the business, leaving the product to take care of itself. But then over time I noticed how loyal our Preferred Customers were and how their contribution to bottom line continued to grow.

I use every technique available to attract new associates. I use 100% internet, telephone cold calls where I send them to a capture page or video on the internet, emails, phone or face to face with friends and associates then send them to a capture page and I also pass out business cards and flyers to strangers with my capture page or video URL attached.

And here's where we come to Weight Loss

Weight Loss is huge and I decided I wanted a piece of it. The market is estimated at $50 billion per year. You will find that dieting and weight loss are the biggest searched items on the web after pornography and online dating.

I've always known we had a great Weight Loss product and people were having huge success with it, but I just didn't know how to approach overweight people. I know this is an emotionally charged area for people struggling with an overeating compulsion and I just didn't want to embarrass them with an approach for a weight loss system.

So where to start? I just didn't know.

But like all things, if we have a focus on an idea the solution will appear like magic right out of the blue.

I was following up on a lady business associate who had shown some interest in a second stream of income but hadn't really run me over with her enthusiasm. She said: "Jim, I just can't get excited about the product line. Now… show me a way to easily lose 10 or 15 pounds and I'm in."

I said: "You don't really need to lose weight".

And she replied: "Show me a woman who doesn't always want to lose 5 to 15 pounds"!

And there was my answer!

So I went into high gear, wrote a book on our weight loss system and created all of the web pages and autoresponders to get it online.

They visit my web page, get their free book and the autoresponder does all the follow-up. If they leave their phone number and I'm not too busy I might give them a call.
